Headscarves are one of those pieces that seem tricky to master, but once you work them out, they quickly become a favourite part of your wardrobe.

At Renew Bohemian, our scarves are designed to be worn your way. Whether you are styling for practicality, comfort or creativity, our kantha and recycled textile scarves are made to move with you through every season and every mood.

This guide will help you understand the different scarf styles we offer, how to choose the right one for you, and a few easy ways to start styling them with confidence.

Vagabond Headscarves

Our Vagabond Headscarves are our classic wrap style and come in three widths: narrow, regular and wide.

These are designed specifically for head wrapping and everyday wear. The different widths allow you to choose how much coverage and volume you would like.

The narrow option is great for a lighter wrap or tying around a bun or braid. The regular is our most versatile and suits most styling styles. The wide option gives fuller coverage and a statement look.

Chunky Scarves

Our Chunky Scarves are technically not a headscarf, but many of our community members love to use them as one.

They are extra wide and generous in size, which makes them perfect for:

- Full coverage wraps

- Styling over dreadlocks or thicker hair

- Wearing as a shawl or wrap

- Using as a cosy neck scarf

They are a beautiful multi use piece that can move between styling and warmth with ease.

Why We Love Headscarves

Headscarves are one of the easiest ways to add personality to an outfit while also being practical.

They are perfect for:

- Days when your hair needs a wash

- Keeping hair off your face in the heat

- Adding colour and texture to a simple outfit

- Layering with kantha, silk or basics pieces

- Expressing your personal style in a creative way

Because each piece is made from reclaimed textiles, every scarf carries its own story and pattern, making your styling completely unique.

How to Style a Headscarf

There is no one right way to wear a headscarf. That is part of the magic.

In this post we have included a photo tutorial for a simple everyday wrap and a video tutorial from our beautiful community member, Darcey, showing a more detailed wrapping style

These will give you a starting point, and from there you can experiment and find your own favourite way to wear yours.

Simple Everyday Wrap

Our simple wrap is perfect for beginners and for everyday wear.

It is comfortable, secure and easy to adjust throughout the day. This style works beautifully with our Vagabond scarves in any width.

Follow along with the photo tutorial below to learn a basic wrap technique:

Step 1: Start with the headscarf behind your head with one side longer than the other, holding each side firmly.

Step 2: Bring each end up and cross over above your forehead.

Step 3: Bring the ends back down and cross over at the back again.

Step 4: Bring the ends up one more time and cross over at the forehead again - note that your ends will meet to the side of your head. (The number of times needed will vary depending on scarf length and head size)

Step 5: Tie the ends, tucking any leftover length in under the scarf layers.

Step 6: Tease/loosen your hair and pull out a few strands to create a lived-in, casual bohemian look and enjoy! You've successfully wrapped a headscarf.

A Note on Sustainability

Every Renew Bohemian headscarf is made from reclaimed textiles, including kantha and recycled fabrics. This means no two pieces are ever the same.

By choosing and caring for your scarf you are helping to extend the life of existing textiles and prevent fashion textiles from ending up in landfill. It is a small but meaningful step towards a slower and more mindful wardrobe (and a slower and more mindful world).

Find Your Style

The best part of headscarf styling is that there are no rules.

Start with a simple wrap, try a new style when you feel ready, and enjoy the process of making each look your own.
