We love clothes, but we also love discovering other businesses that are creating beautiful things, doing business with purpose and trying to leave the world a little better than they found it.

There is room for all of us.

We don't believe supporting another small or independent business takes anything away from our own. If anything, we think the opposite is true. When we choose to spend our money with businesses whose values align with our own, we're helping create the kind of world we want to live in.

We're particularly passionate about supporting women-owned and women-run businesses, creative people and brands that are thinking about their impact, caring about their communities and doing good in their own way.

So, we thought we'd introduce you to a few of the businesses we genuinely love, not because they've paid us to say nice things, but just because we think they're bloody great.

Quirky Cup Collective

If you've ever wondered whether a notebook, pen or Kindle accessory can bring you an unreasonable amount of joy, allow us to introduce you to The Quirky Cup Collective.

We have been fans of Sydonie and her colourful world for years. We love the vibrant colour and unbounded playfulness that runs through everything she creates.

The way Quirky approaches everyday rituals feels very familiar to us at Renew; we both believe the things you use every day should make you feel good.

Why shouldn't your journal make you smile? Why shouldn't your morning coffee cup feel special? Why shouldn't getting dressed be the highlight of your day? Quirky's whole ethos is about bringing a little more magic into the mundane, and we are very much here for that.

We also love that the sustainability side of the business isn't just a buzzword. Quirky has made intentional decisions across packaging and operations, including recycled paper, biodegradable and compostable packaging options, FSC paper for journals, carbon offset donations and selling imperfect items rather than sending them to landfill.

Colour, creativity, sustainability, women-run and with a healthy dose of magic? Yep, we're fans.

Liminal Elixirs

We've already had the pleasure of partnering with Sarah on one of our giveaways, but the truth is that we were fans long before that collaboration, and we're still using and loving their products now.

Liminal Elixirs was created by Sarah, a mum of three, after she began making her own skincare while pregnant with her third child. What started in her kitchen in Denmark, Western Australia, has grown into a beautiful skincare business built around natural ingredients, small fresh batches and helping women feel more connected to their changing skin.

But one of the things we love most about Liminal is their philosophy around mature skin. Ageing is not something to fear. It's a privilege.

We spend so much time being told that we need to fight, fix and reverse every sign of getting older. Liminal offers a much more nourishing perspective: care for your skin, enjoy your rituals and embrace the person you're becoming.

They're WA-owned and made, handcrafted, cruelty-free and committed to natural ingredients. And yes, we can confirm from personal experience that their products feel great to use.

KeepCup

This one has been part of our lives for a very long time.

If you've ever seen us arrive at the office with our coffee in hand, there's always a reusable cup involved.

KeepCup started in Melbourne when siblings Abigail and Jamie Forsyth were running a café and became increasingly concerned about the amount of disposable cups being used. They launched the original KeepCup in 2009, creating a reusable cup designed specifically for coffee lovers and baristas.

What we love about KeepCup is that their approach to sustainability extends well beyond simply making a reusable cup. They're a certified B Corp, a member of 1% for the Planet, publish lifecycle assessments, use modular designs and offer replacement parts to help keep their products in use for longer. They also manufacture and assemble locally where possible.

And we love the bigger idea behind it. Sustainability isn't only about what a business does; it's also about the everyday choices we make as individuals.

Our team each has their own ways of trying to reduce their impact, from reusable cups and containers to the way we shop, travel and consume. Small choices don't have to be perfect to make a difference.

Lar Pixie

Kate from Lar Pixie is a friend of Brooke's, and if you've been following Renew for a while, you'll probably have spotted Brooke wearing her beautiful pieces.

Lar Pixie creates handcrafted macramé jewellery and hair wraps, with a style that feels right at home alongside a colourful Renew outfit.

Kate's story is a pretty beautiful one too. Her journey began nearly 20 years ago with hair wrapping by the beach, eventually growing into jewellery and macramé through years of experimentation and creativity. She now splits her time between the UK and India, with travel and the landscapes around her continuing to influence her work.

There's something we really connect with there. That feeling of following a creative path that doesn't necessarily fit neatly into a conventional career. Of letting travel, people, places and experiences shape what you make. Of creating something with your hands because you have to.

Kate is a kindred spirit in more ways than one, and we're very happy to have her in the Renew world.

There is room for everyone.

We all play a part in creating the kind of world we want to see. We can make beautiful things, create jobs, support women, rethink waste, build community and choose better materials. We can make everyday rituals more joyful and challenge the stories we’ve been told about ageing, beauty and consumption, and we can cheer each other on while we do it!

Every time you spend your money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of businesses you want to see more of. So, seek out the businesses doing things thoughtfully. Support the women building something from the ground up. Choose the makers, creatives and independent brands trying to do good in the world, and when you find one you love, tell your friends. Share their posts, sign up for their newsletter, buy the thing, leave the review and send someone their way. When good people support good businesses, everybody gets a little more room to grow. and we’re very happy to be part of that.

We plan to share more brands we love in the future, so to stay in the loop join us over on our newsletter, dive into our kind-hearted Facebook community group and find us on Instagram.

Renew Bohemian is an Australian slow fashion brand creating ethically made, one-of-a-kind clothing from upcycled Indian textiles. Every piece is designed in Australia and handcrafted in small batches by skilled artisans in India.
