Oversized, relaxed, fitted or somewhere in between? Let's find your fit. 🌈

If you've ever looked at a clothing size and wondered how it's supposed to fit, you're not alone. Sizing can be confusing at the best of times, and at Renew, we do things a little differently.

We design a variety of fits, from roomy oversized styles to more fitted pieces, relaxed free-size designs and everything in between. That means your usual size won't always tell you the whole story. You might wear one size in a floaty Kantha top, and another in a more fitted style, and that's completely normal!

Rather than relying on a standard size label, we recommend looking at the measurements of each individual garment and thinking about how you'd like it to fit. Here's how to get started.

Why Renew sizing is a little different

Our clothing is handcrafted using reclaimed textiles and other carefully selected fabrics. Because our garments are made in smaller runs, the measurements can vary slightly between batches. We measure every batch and update our garment measurements as needed, so you can make your decision using the most relevant information available.

We also design different styles with different fits in mind. Some pieces are intentionally oversized and roomy. Others come in free-size or flexible sizing options, while some have a more defined fit.

The secret? Shop by measurements and the fit you want, rather than the size you're used to buying.

How to find your best fit

1. Check the measurements on the product page

Every Renew product listing has a Size Info dropdown underneath the product description. This includes the available garment measurements, such as bust, waist, hips and length, depending on the style.

We recommend checking these measurements before choosing your size. Even if you've bought from us before, it's worth checking each new style because the fit and proportions can vary.

2. Measure a similar garment you already own

This is our favourite way to find your fit, and is more accurate than measuring your body.

Find a similar item in your wardrobe that fits you the way you like. Lay it flat and measure it in the same places shown in our size guide, then compare those measurements with the product listing.

Love a roomy fit? Compare it with a similarly relaxed piece. Prefer something closer to your body? Use a garment with a fit you already love as your guide.

Don't have a tape measure? There are phone apps that can help you measure too.

3. Think about how you want it to fit

Measurements tell you a lot, but your preferred fit matters just as much.

For example, you might love a top with plenty of room through the body, or you might prefer a more defined silhouette. Maybe you want your pants to sit loosely on the hips, or prefer a style that feels more fitted.

There's no right or wrong way to wear your clothes. The goal is to find pieces that feel comfortable and make you feel fantastic.

How Renew measures clothing

We measure garments flat and double the measurement to give the full circumference, unless the product description says otherwise.

For shape measurements, we use the following points:

Bust: From armpit to armpit, approximately at nipple height.

Waist: Around the smallest part of the garment's waist, where applicable.

Hips: Across the widest part of the hip area, where applicable.

Length: From the top of the shoulder seam to the hem, or from the waistband to the hem for bottoms.

We share the measurements most useful for understanding the fit of each particular style.

Still not sure? We've got you.

We know that shopping online can make it harder to picture how something will fit, especially when you're trying a new style or shopping with a brand for the first time.

That's why we share fit information in lots of different ways. You'll find styling ideas and fit notes in our product spotlights and Complete Guide to blog posts, plus photos and videos showing garments on different bodies.

Our ambassadors share their own styling experiences, and our customers regularly show us how they wear their pieces in real life. Our Facebook community is especially lovely for this. It's a place to see how styles look on people of different heights, shapes and personal styles, ask questions and get ideas from people who already own the pieces.

And if you still have questions after checking the measurements, please reach out before ordering. We'd much rather help you find a piece you'll love than leave you guessing.

A little note about sizing and returns

Because we provide garment-specific measurements and a range of fit information to help you choose, we don't typically accept returns for incorrect size.

We encourage you to take your time, compare measurements and get in touch if you're unsure. We want you to feel confident in your choice before your order arrives.

Size is just a number

At the end of the day, we don't believe there's one perfect size or one right way for clothing to fit. You might wear different sizes across our collections, and that's okay, us too! What matters is finding the pieces that feel good on your body, suit your personal style and make you excited to get dressed.

So check the measurements, think about the fit you love and explore the photos, videos and customer styling inspiration we've shared. And if you're still wondering whether a piece is right for you, come and ask us; we're always happy to help.
