*Every piece in this collection begins with recycled kantha cotton fabrics that our team carefully transforms through a multi-step artisan process:
First, the colour on kantha is gently lifted to create a clean base (on some pieces you can still see the faint original pattern, adding additional depth to the patterns that follow). Then comes the first stonewash, a traditional technique that softens the fabric, relaxes the fibres and gives it a beautifully worn in feel.
From there each piece is hand blocked using Dabu printing, an ancient mud resist method where artisans apply a paste of clay, gum and sawdust to create unique patterns. Once the mud dries, the kantha is dipped in natural indigo for that deep blue colour. The resist reveals the print in the most magical, perfectly imperfect way. No two are ever alike.
After dyeing, we stonewash everything again to mellow the indigo, deepen the texture and bring out that soft, washed bohemian look this collection is all about.
With ten prints in this limited run, each one carries the fingerprints, time and skill of everyone who worked on it. Truly one of a kind in the most genuine way.
*Photos are example only, each piece in each print design will have it's own personality.
