Kantha

Although we use a selection of dreamy fabrics across our catalogue these days, there’s something extra special about the one that first captured our (and your) hearts - kantha.

DISCOVER KANTHA

Kantha is an ancient textile tradition from Bangladesh and West Bengal, woven with heritage, artistry and sustainability.

For generations, women in rural villages have used simple running stitches to breathe new life into old cotton sarees, turning them into something extraordinary and beautiful.

The word kantha refers to this distinctive hand-stitching. Layer by layer, fabric is quilted together with thousands of tiny stitches by skilled women in rural villages to create colourful patterns and textures. Each piece carries its own story, shaped by both the cloth it’s made from and the hands that stitched it.

What makes kantha so special? Its perfectly imperfect character.
